Why You Need A Vision And A Plan

Our theme for the month is Vision. Happenista Vee Roberts, who helps entrepreneurs to step out and shine with their personal or business brand, shares her thoughts on why you need a vision and a plan:

Many people are stuck in jobs they don’t like for years on end, doing the same drab activities day in day out — and complaining about going into work, or being told what to do etc , but then doing absolutely nothing to change that situation.

As cheesy as it sounds, when you’ve decided what you really want to do in life and you’re living a life with purpose, you’ll feel more motivated and have constant enthusiasm to get things done. The exact opposite can be said if:
– you’re not doing your dream job.
– you’re unsure of where your life (or business) is going.
– you don’t have any vision or purpose.

Being the boss of you!
Are you the boss of you? Are you doing what you really want to do? Are you in love with your day job? Are you living with vision and purpose? And, if you are in business, are you really doing the business that you most desire (or just the business that will bring in most income)? Perhaps you have an idea for a business and are unsure how to develop it into a plan of action.

Stop procrastinating and making excuses. Your life can be even more fulfilled when you’re the boss, living life on your terms — choosing your working hours, the projects you take on and even how much annual leave you can take off (and when). It’s hard work but it’s worth it, especially when you’re working to your own goals.

It’s no secret that I love all things marketing, branding, advertising, communications, PR, events and social media! That’s why I enjoy my job, but entrepreneurship isn’t all smiles and fun and games. Admittedly, working for yourself is NOT all fun and light, particularly if you don’t have a big team or support network around you. Family and friends may not support you. You may sometimes feel overwhelmed with the tasks you have to deliver. You may experience lonely days, weeks, or even months — and therefore it is so important to associate with genuine people with similar interests to you — as well as maintaining your work /life balance. The cloudy days will pass, you are not alone —through networking and talking to others, you will see that many business owners experience up and down periods.

Have a vision. Have a plan.
You are the boss of your life, yet you may sometimes feel out of control. Yes, this is not unheard of, there may be periods! And that’s okay, as long as you have an idea of how to turn things around and/or a written plan of action. There are so many books, inspirational videos, coaches, mastermind groups and mentors out there that you can benefit from.

You need a vision, a focus and goals – an idea of where you are heading.

Step out of your comfort zone!
