To celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Jenny hosted a “Making Your Cash Flow” event to help entrepreneurs learn how to get a better handle on and increase their business’ finances. Aimed particularly at women in business and sponsored by Sage, the market leader for integrated accounting, payroll, and payment systems, the event was for start-ups and those who are scaling up their companies. It took place on 22 November from 5-9pm at NatWest in Bishopsgate.
Research from NatWest Bank shows that female entrepreneurs contributed £3.51bn to the UK economy in 2015 alone and 798,000 jobs in the UK have been generated by businesses started by women. However female-led businesses achieve far lower levels of funding, with male entrepreneurs 86 per cent more likely to be venture capital funded, and 56 per cent more likely to secure angel investment. The event aimed to help female entrepreneurs who are either setting up their own business or looking to improve their business’ profits.
Attendees heard from nine outstanding speakers, all experts in their field, who shared their experiences and proven strategies that have worked for them. Topics covered included how to thrive as a female breadwinner, how to use money to make money and how to obtain bigger angel investment with a small risk.
Jenny said: “We know that women in business work long hours to follow their passion, making a difference with clients and in their community, but this doesn’t always translate to financial profitability and sustainability. We also know that because they love the work they do, they can put off or procrastinate looking at the numbers, and this can cause a big issue. The event was about helping them to become smarter around money and make a difference to the UK economy.”
