Leyla Okhai
Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Centre
Leyla Okhai speaks on her experience of being coached by Jenny Garrett (in her own words)
Leyla’s Goals
I set out to find out how I can get a job in the private sector, understand what I am doing wrong and what I needed to do.
Goals Met
How to be effective in promoting what I do and not just busy! My fears around being open and commentating on topics I know a lot about, getting out of my comfort zone and not seeing no as rejection.
Changes Made
I have had an official promotion and job title change, I have met people in senior positions in other organisations who have recommended me, and seen what I do. I am not afraid to put myself out there and thus have new positive experiences.
Return on investment
Yes, initially, I thought this was going to be a huge investment. However, I have seem my investment come back 10x.
Working with Jenny
The kindness and support and non-judgemental approach.
Challenges
Delivering the things I said I would!
How to make the most of coaching
Ensure you are make time in your life to reflect on you sessions, diarise time for the activities you want to carry out from coaching sessions, be prepared to be challenged and go in with an open mind!
Ongoing Results
I am already using much of what I spoke about in coaching and building on it. Building my brand, sharing my vision for my consultancy, having faith in what I do and how I deliver it, challenging myself to think bigger and not get drawn into small stuff.
Future Goals
I intend to complete Jenny’s online coaching programme, The Happenista project, keep my LinkedIn blogs going, sharing my vision and creating a vision bard to realise my business aspirations. I need to continue to ask for help and remind myself daily with a diary of all I have achieved.
