Global Communications Director
A look at the progress made by Kate Ischei with her time being coached by Jenny Garrett
(in her own words)
I really wanted to assess where I was in my career and make a concerted effort to change my approach to my career and to the way I approached the job application process. I had reached a level where I was tending to repeat positions rather than going up a level or developing my knowledge and skills.
In my current role, Jenny’s coaching helped me to position myself around quite significant organisational changes. I was finding the changes challenging, because of the lack of communication around what was happening, and Jenny helped me to navigate this rather difficult working environment over several months.
I have become a lot more confident and, as a result of this confidence, decisive. I am much more self-assured and can clearly see how my thought process can impact my perception of the working environment. I am much more positive and much more self-aware in relation to my strengths and areas of development.
Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Centre
Leyla Okhai speaks on her experience of being coached by Jenny Garrett (in her own words)
I set out to find out how I can get a job in the private sector, understand what I am doing wrong and what I needed to do.
How to be effective in promoting what I do and not just busy! My fears around being open and commentating on topics I know a lot about, getting out of my comfort zone and not seeing no as rejection.
I have had an official promotion and job title change, I have met people in senior positions in other organisations who have recommended me, and seen what I do. I am not afraid to put myself out there and thus have new positive experiences.
Ruth Fehilly speaks on her experience of being coached by Jenny Garrett (in her own words)
I wanted to find a direction in my career and build confidence to go in that direction.
I have pulled myself out of a rut and feel like I have a direction. I felt de-motivated and didn’t care about anything I was doing. Now I feel motivated and I know exactly where I’m going and have a very good idea of how to get there.
The coaching sessions have set me in this direction. Without the sessions I would not have found this new career path. I also feel more confident in the work place.

Victoria Awele Griffith
CEO, Spectacular Women
Victoria Awele Griffith speaks on her experience of being coached by Jenny Garrett (in her own words)
My main objective was to position myself as the expert in my field as a Teen Domestic Violence facilitator and domestic violence advocator and become more visible on social media.
Issues addressed consisted of the impact I want to make in the wider world, through my story and the preventative work I do in school for young people. Who my niche is and how I intend to engage them and also standing my ground when it comes to charging organisations for the service I offer. Especially the money side in relation to knowing my worth and not selling myself short.
Our coaching conversations have enabled me to look beyond my current situation and focus on the long term goal at hand, which is to be more visible on social media and engage my audience consistently through regular write up or video blogs. Also, to become a published author so that I could reach a wider audience that I wouldn’t necessary reach via social media.
Team Building and Development
Private Healthcare Company
The company were creating a new division and wanted to embed the right culture from the start. We were engaged by the Director ER, EMEA, Australia & Canada, and met with other senior Directors to design a series of sessions to help them consider their leadership approach, individually and as a team.
Through a series of interactive activities and facilitated conversations they created and agreed how they would ‘be’ and work together and explored the implications of an inclusive leadership approach, unpacking what it would look like in practice, such as what might need to change in them, how they might deal with resistance, how they would hold each other to account and potential pitfalls.
We brought to the sessions:
- A clear framework to keep the sessions on track
- An objective perspective and skills in helping to reframe situations
- Insight into Leadership approaches and business
- Challenge on their assumptions, and willingness to stand by their commitments
- A focus on outcomes and action.
Private Education Organisation
The organisation had a change in Principal which had created some dysfunction in the senior team, our role was to work with the team to make them once more an effective, well-functioning team.
After having conversations with a selection of members of the SLT, we agreed to use a psychometric questionnaire as the tool for engaging with how the team led currently and how they wanted to lead in the future. Starting with a broad team session we introduced the psychometric questionnaire, then provided each member with their psychometric results. Followed by sessions on what this meant for them as a team and how they worked together. Ending in a session in which they committed to a new way of leading and working together, and an an understanding of ‘why’ that was important for them personally and professionally.
We brought to the sessions:
- The ability to contain strong and conflicting personalities
- Assisting the team to share their story without blame
- An objective approach to understanding how each team member made their contribution and team dynamics
- Helping them devise a way forward deeply rooted in their individual an organisational values
- A focus on outcomes and action
